Potter invites Abu, Brooking, others to train with Chelsea first team
Ahead of the Blues game against Crystal Palace this weekend, new manager, Graham Potter has invited German-born Nigerian defender, Derrick Abu to train with the first team.
Abu was seen during training with Chelsea’s first team on Tuesday ahead of the Crystal Palace clash, according to Football London.
It is believed that the young defender took part in the training session because many of the Blues’ first-team players were away on international duty for their home countries.
Pictures on social media showed Abu training with the likes of N’Golo Kante during a workout at Cobham Training Center.
Aside from Abu, other youngsters who joined the first team during training include Charlie Webster, Omari Hutchinson, Dion Rankine, Dylan Williams, Ben Elliott, Alfie Gilchrist, Mason Burstow, Jude Soonsup-Bell, Brodi Hughes and Josh Brooking.
It remains to be known if Potter will give Abu a chance to start for Chelsea or come in as a substitute against Crystal Palace.
