Chelsea manager Graham Potter has expressed his confidence that a knee injury sustained by defender Reece James during their clash with AC Milan will not keep him sidelined for a long time.

In the second half of Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at San Siro in the Champions League, on Tuesday night, the right wing-back was forced to hobble off after struggling to shake off an issue that he had picked up minutes earlier.

With Chelsea left with nine matches to play before the World Cup commences, Potter is expected to be concerned about whether James will be available for any of those fixtures.

James is expected to undergo a scan to ascertain the level of his injury.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Potter said: “We’re hoping he’ll be ok. We’ll need 24 to 48 hours. We’ll know more after that.”

James who is a key player in the England national team will also not want to miss the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
