Ahead of the summer transfer window, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested the club may consider signing more experience players to boost the squad next season.

As of now, Stamford Bridge is home to only four players in the senior ranks namely Thiago Silva, Marcus Bettinelli, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

While some of the Blues younger players have flourished at times this season, it has been inconsistent and affecting Chelsea’s performances, something which Pochettino has pointed out on different occasions.

There are already claims that Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are contemplating a complete overhaul of the Blues squad.

Furthermore, the Blues are in a tough spot where they can’t just sign any player of their choice as they have to stay in line  with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Addressing the press on Friday, Pochettino stated that decisions need to be made over the Blues transfer would go before June.

Pochettino was quoted by the Evening Standard as saying: “We can keep going in the same way with the policy, but in the squad, we have Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Bettinelli. Maybe Marcus isn’t playing but he does a fantastic job helping the young guys.

“We have experienced players in the squad. It is not going against the project to have some players who are helping the young guys to perform, to be professional, and to understand what it means to be in the Premier League and to be at Chelsea.

“We need to talk and decide the strategy for next season.”
