Only this Chelsea star is a guaranteed starter

Former Chelsea star, Glenn Hoddle claimed defender Thiago Silva is the only guaranteed starter for the Blues following their goalless draw against Fulham in Friday’s Premier League tie.

Chelsea splashed £323 million in the January transfer window that saw them complete record-signing for Enzo Fernandez alongside the likes of David Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

Despite the expensive signings, the Blues could not beat Fulham at home and Hoddle believes Chelsea manager Graham Potter still has some problems to solve.

According to Hoddle, Silva, who moved to the west London club on a free transfer in 2020 is the only player that has to be on the team sheet.

“They are not quite there. There is something missing there and it is difficult for Graham Potter to pick his best team, he doesn’t know his best team by any means,” Hoddle told Premier League Productions.

“Even going into the transfer window, he was still trying to find his system and balance in all departments. I think Thiago Silva is a shoo-in, he is a must, but for everyone else, it is a mish-mash.

“There is a lot of work to do. He is got some lovely material to make a beautiful suit, but It is going to take more time with so many new players.”
