Not because of his performance: Why Tuchel was sacked revealed
Chelsea on Wednesday confirmed Thomas Tuchel’s sack at the club.
While Tuchel’s sack has been assumed to be a result of his performance, especially after their 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the UCL, a report via CBS claimed had little to do with results and performances on the pitch but had more to do with his relationship with the club’s hierarchy.
The report revealed the Blues’ new co-owner Todd Boehly was frustrated with Tuchel’s lack of help in convincing players to join Chelsea this summer, which was why they lost out on major signings including that of Raphinha and Jules Kounde, both of whom went on to join Spanish club Barcelona even when their various clubs had reached an agreement with Chelsea for their transfer.
Chelsea hierarchy felt Tuchel should have sold the club to the two players in order to convince them to move to the West London side, the way Xavi had done for the Catalans.
In another report, the Blues have named a new manager in the person of Graham Potter, Brighton’s former manager.
