No Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd player: Shearer names top three EPL forwards
Former Newcastle United striker, Alan Shearer, has shared his opinion about forwards in the English Premier League.
According to Shearer, there are only three world-class forwards in the Premier League at the moment.
The former star named the players as Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
“I think there are three world-class forwards in the Premier League now,” he said.
Shearer made this known while speaking on BBC Match of the Day, following Isak’s two goals in the 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday.
Newcastle United had come from behind to win the match as Jan Bednarek gave Southampton the lead in the 10th minute.
Manager Eddie Howe’s side were able to equalise after Isak won and converted a penalty kick midway through the first half.
Isak then scored a brace only four minutes after the first, curling the ball beyond Alex McCarthy.
The goal was the Swedish striker’s 17th of the top-flight season for the Magpies.
This saw Newcastle United winning three points as they remain level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City on the Premier League log, after the champions defeated Chelsea later in the day
