Newcastle United set to rival Liverpool in race to sign Chelsea star

Newcastle United have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Chelsea star and England midfielder Mason Mount in the coming summer transfer window.

The England international’s current contract with the Blues is set to expire in the summer of 2024 and so far talks on a possible extension have stalled between the two parties.

Chelsea are said to be ready to sell Mount this summer in a bid to avoid losing him for free in 2024.

A report via the Mail revealed Chelsea are determined not to lose Mount for nothing when his deal runs out and so if an extension cannot be agreed this summer, they will look to sell him.

Aside from Liverpool and Newcastle United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Italian Seria A club, Juventus are also said to be interested in the England international’s signature if Chelsea do decide to cash in on him this summer.

Mount would likely favour a move to an EPL club than moving to another domestic league in Europe.
