Manchester United have reportedly accepted defeat in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, who now appears set to join Arsenal.

With the Swedish striker leaning toward a move to the Emirates, United are making a renewed push to secure an alternative forward to lead their line next season.

Under new manager Ruben Amorim, United are planning a major reshuffle in attack. Amorim envisions a front three that includes Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo operating behind a central striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation. With Arsenal winning the race for Gyokeres and Chelsea securing Liam Delap—who chose Champions League football over a move to Old Trafford—United are accelerating efforts to find another goal scorer.

According to reports, United are now targeting a forward with an impressive track record of 162 career goals. While the player’s identity remains under wraps, the club faces two key challenges: limited Champions League appeal and competition from other top clubs still in the market for a proven No. 9.

Despite these hurdles, United remain determined. They understand the importance of bringing in a prolific striker to lead the team’s new era under Amorim, especially after last season’s shortcomings.

Meanwhile, Arsenal continue to move ahead with Gyokeres, with Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri claiming the Gunners have already agreed a five-year contract with the Sporting CP forward.

The coming weeks could be decisive as United look to salvage their striker search before the new season begins.
