Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has expressed his disappointment over his removal as the club’s captain for the next season.

The defender, who confirmed he would no longer be the Red Devils captain said the decision was reached following a discussion with manager Erik ten Hag on Sunday.

According to the English defender, the manager informed him that he is changing his captain.

Maguire who revealed he was “personally extremely disappointed”, however, said the changes wouldn’t stop him from giving his best to the club on the pitch.

He further added that taking up the role of a manager at Old Trafford had been a  huge privilege for him.

“It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful – on and off the field.

“I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support. Harry.”
