Manchester United have reportedly identified Watford midfielder Yaser Asprilla as a potential summer transfer target.

On Tuesday evening, it was widely reported that Erik ten Hag would remain as head coach, following speculation about his future. United’s decision to retain ten Hag comes after his FA Cup triumph, despite not securing a suitable alternative.

With Ten Hag’s position settled, the club’s focus shifts to bolstering the first-team squad to achieve a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

Numerous young talents with potential have been linked to United, but significant progress on new signings remains limited.

Interest in Asprilla may come as a surprise to some fans, given his current standing in the Championship. According to Colombian journalist Guillermo Arango, United have added the 20-year-old to their list of potential targets.

Asprilla had a productive season in the Championship, recording six goals and seven assists in 28 starts and 16 substitute appearances.

The son of former Newcastle United striker Faustino Asprilla, he has made 86 appearances for Watford over two seasons and is entering the final year of his contract. Additionally, Asprilla has impressed on the international stage, scoring twice in four appearances for Colombia.

Arango notes that seven teams from four different countries are also interested in Asprilla, including Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

Brighton & Hove Albion, who previously dealt with Watford for Joao Pedro, are also monitoring the midfielder, as are AC Milan and Bologna. Spanish clubs Real Sociedad and Real Betis are said to be admirers as well.

Despite Asprilla’s lack of experience in top European leagues, Watford are reportedly demanding around £30 million for the talented midfielder. Whether any club will meet this valuation remains to be seen.
