Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva has sent a message to his international teammate Joao Neves about his link to Old Trafford.

Silva in a recent statement urged Nerves to turn down a transfer to Manchester United and instead join him at Manchester City this summer transfer window.

The reports disclosed that the Red Devils, who have identified Neves as a key transfer target this summer have already failed with a £51 million bid for the Benfica star.

Man United are said to be willing to bring in a replacement for Casemiro after the Brazilian struggled to impress in his second season at Old Trafford.

While Neves has a release clause of £105 million included in his deal, Benfica, is, however, said to be willing to consider offers of around £85 million for the 22-year-old.

When quizzled about rumours linking Neves to Man United, Silva in a statement via Metro UK said he told him to go to Manchester City as he would like to see him by his side and he also wanted the best for him.

It is yet to be known if the Citizens would compete with the Red Devils in the race to sign Neves this summer.
