Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has made a promise to fans ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.

Recall that the Blues lost the first leg 2-0 at Santiago Bernabeu last Wednesday.

Speaking after their Premier League 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday, Lampard revealed that his team must improve on football basics ahead of the Real Madrid clash in England.

Brighton defeated the Blues thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Julio Enciso, while Conor Gallagher managed to score a goal for Chelsea.

Speaking to BBC after the game, Lampard said: “Where can we get better quickly? For me, it’s the football basics.”

He added: “In football, a story can change very quickly. Real Madrid in the Champions League is the pinnacle of football.

“There are things I will say to the players that I will keep in-house. Chelsea fans will be coming on Tuesday to see a team give everything to turn it around, and that is what we have to do.”
