Lampard issues warning to Chelsea’s next permanent manager
Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has issued a warning to the club’s incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino amid their poor campaign.
According to Lampard, the new manager need to know that there is no quick fix at the club.
Chelsea endured a tough season that saw them drop out of the top six on the league table and also lose a chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
Pochettino, who once coach Tottenham and PSG will be joining a Chelsea side who have endured a miserable season despite the club’s owners splashing £600m spending spree in the last two transfer windows.
But Lampard believes the battle for the top-four will be ‘even harder’ next season as Pochettino takes over the Blues.
“I don’t think there are many quick fixes in football,” Lampard told Stadium Astro.
“The Premier League moves on pretty quickly, and that is why this year has been difficult for us because the battle for the top four is harder than it has ever been and it will get harder.
“Teams are investing, the level of players, coaches and tactics is improving, and that is the beauty of the league.
“We can only focus on ourselves as a club and understand the things we want to put right.
“It is not for me to jump into the future and guess but it is going to take a lot of hard work. I do think we will benefit from a break and a pre-season and a freshness.”
