International break: Club claims first win against Premier League
As the international break commences, Manchester City led by Pep Guardiola have had to face some of their legal disputds.
A recent update revealed the Citizens have won its legal dispute with the Premier League over the Associated Party Transaction, APT, rules.
This comes after an Arbitral Tribunal deemed several aspects of the Premier League’s handling of the APT regulations to be unlawful.
The recent ruling was confirmed in a official statement released by Man City on Monday.
Guardiola side expressed appreciation to the members of the Arbitral Tribunal for their work and considerations and welcomed the findings.
According to the Man City’s official statement, it revealed the club has succeeded with its claim as the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules have now been found to be unlawful.
The Premier League’s decisions on two specific MCFC sponsorship transactions have been set aside.
“The tribunal found that both the original APT rules and the current (amended) APT rules violate UK competition law and the requirements of procedural fairness,” the statement read.
According to the tribunal, the APT rules were structurally unfair and that the Premier League was specifically unjust in how it applied the rules to the club in practice.
