FC Porto striker, Samu Omorodion, was one of the names that was linked to Chelsea in the recent summer transfer window as they were keen on signing a new forward to create competition for Nicolas Jackson.

Omorodion’s transfer to Chelsea, however, didn’t materialise and the Blues have had to rely on Jackson, who has been impressive for manager Enzo Maresca.

Speaking on his link to Stamford Bridge, Omorodion claimed that God told him not to join Chelsea, despite coming close to move to the Premier League club.

Recall that the Blues had reached a £34million agreement for the 20-year-old with Atletico Madrid.

But Omorodion’s deal with Chelsea fell through amid concerns over an ankle injury.

The forward went on to sign for Porto, scoring seven goals in as many games, including a brace in a 3-3 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League tournament.

Omorodion in a statement via Spanish outlet RTVE said he had a tough summer.

Speaking on his link to Chelsea, the forward said,

“We had a really bad time because in the end everyone knows that I was close to signing, but it’s true that if it didn’t happen.”

According to Omorodion, it was for a reason and God didn’t want it to happen.
