Former Chelsea striker speaks on attack on social media
Former Chelsea striker Gonzola Higuain in a recent statement has opened up on the attack he faces on social media.
The legendary striker had recently announced his retirement from professional football, having enjoyed a glittering career, playing at top clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Juventus and Napoli.
The former Argentina star, who currently plays in the Major League Soccer, will quit football at the end of the current season.
He lamented the toxic social media culture of football and believes hate comments across various platforms are really hurtful.
“There’s kind of a toxic feeling around football on social media. You can’t imagine the damage that comments on social networks do,” the Argentine said as quoted by football expert, Fabrizio Romano.
“I was really suffering, my family helped me. So, people should think before attacking others on social media – it’s a really serious topic.”
