Former Chelsea manager recalls experience with bloated squad
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has recall his experience with a bloated squad at Stamford Bridge.
Potter revealed that some of the Blues players had to sit on the floor in the dressing due to the lack of space during his time in the helms of affair at the club.
The former manager admitted that the squad was bloated, leading to the dressing room being overcrowded.
Recall that the West London side had splashed £300 million in the January 2022 transfer window, bringing in new players.
The Englishman via Daily Telegraph recalled how the new players that were brought in all came from outside of the Premier League and it took time for all to adapt to life in the domestic league.
Potter stressed that the players yo recognised it was a really difficult situation because he could only pick 11 players.
Chelsea ended Potter’s reign at Stamford Bridge after just seven months following a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
He recorded only four wins and exited Stamford Bridge 11th in the Premier League table and 12 points off the UEFA Champions League places.
Meanwhile, Chelsea under current manager Enzo Maresca also have a bloated squad and the Argentine has had to make changes in different tournaments to give players game time.
