More comment from former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter’s recent revelation about his time at Stamford Bridge has emerged.

Potter spoke about his transfer plans for the Blues, hinting that he ‘tried’ to sign Harry Kane and Declan Rice during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge.

While Kane has since left the Premier League for the German Bundesliga where he signed for Bayern Munich, Rice is now a key midfielder in Arsenal squad led by Mikel Arteta.

Recall that the Blues spent £21 million to prise Potter and his coaching staff from Brighton after Thomas Tuchel’s unexpected sack in 2022.

The Clearlake consortium led by Todd Boehly splashed the whopping sum of £300 million that same year before Potter’s appointment which centred largely on signing young players in Europe.

Potter said if he had spent the money on Kane and Rice, then it would have been fair enough, but at the time that was the decision.

“We tried to support it as best we could, but it left us with a challenge of a lot of players after January and then they can’t go anywhere,” Potter said via the Telegraph.
