Chelsea manager Graham Potter during a pre-match statement ahead of the Blues’ game against Brentford addressed Thiago Silva’s fitness.

This comes as the Blues’ game against Brentford means they would be playing twice in the space of four days and it is expected to take it toil on some players like Silva owing to the Brazil star’s age.

Speaking on Silva’s chances of playing against Brentford, Potter said the defender would be the one to determine that.

‘No problems injury wise, it’s just the recovery,’ Potter underlined.

‘24, 48 hours, we need to make sure the recovery is right for him. I have to involve him in the conversations because he’s 38 years old. He’s a man, he knows himself better than I do.

‘He’s a really important person and player for us. We have to manage him correctly, and he has to be involved in that process.’

Chelsea head to the game against Brentford on Wednesday after their 2-0 win against Aston Villa last weekend.
