EPL: Players that could join Chelsea in January

Chelsea, like some other teams, are looking ahead of the January transfer window on players they can bring into their squad.

Ahead of the winter transfer window that is set to start in a matter of days, a recent report has revealed that Chelsea would be making moves for two new players that could bring back some of their impressive loanees.

Chelsea, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed that their left-back, Ben Chilwell, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury he sustained against Juventus in the UEFA Champions Leagues in November.

This means the Blues would need a new defender to cover in for Chilwell as they are only left with just one senior recognised left-back in the person of Marcos Alonso.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the top of the list is Everton left-back, Lucas Digne, who could be available on loan until the end of the season.

The report from Everton reveals that Digne has fallen out of favour in the Rafa Benitez’s led squad this season and has missed Everton’s last three matches.

The Blues could also sign Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest, but this would be a permanent transfer.

Chelsea could also go on to bring back two of their full-backs in the forms of Emerson Palmieri and Ian Maatsen.

Palmieri is currently on loan at Lyon, while Maatsen is on loan at Coventry City.
