Ahead of the summer transfer window, Arsenal have been linked to add a new goalkeeper to their squad.

The reports claim the Gunners are close to completing moves for Andre Onana from Ajax.

This is coming following the return of Mathew Ryan return to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Gunners coach Mikel Arteta is said to be determined to want a new goalie ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, especially with Alex Runarsson struggling to impress.

According to Dutch outlet NOS, Arsenal hope to wrap up a deal for Onana within the next few days, and the goalkeeper’s doping ban could see them strike a cut-price deal.

The reports available revealed that Onana tested positive for Furosemide, a banned substance, in 2020 and is currently serving a suspension from all football until February 2022, but an appeal over his ban has been lodged and the Court of Arbitration for Sport will determine an outcome this week.

The report adds that Onana could cost the Gunners up to £7.75m if his ban is overturned or shortened, but a marginal fee of £1.7m will seal the deal if the appeal is unsuccessful.

So the decision of the Court of Arbitration will determine the price the Gunners will offer.
