The reds are now set to complete the signature of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid if rumours are to be true.
Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane has become Manchester United’s top priority in this summer transfer window as they hope to strengthen their backline.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to partner Varane with Harry Maguire, currently the club’s most trusted defender.
Sky Sports News have now reported that Real Madrid have given Man United the green light to discuss personal terms with Varane.
The report claim negotiations between the player and club are currently underway, and it might be sorted out in the next few days.
Though Varane is currently having his holiday after participating in the European Championship, the report added that Real Madrid and Man United would begin discussions over a fee if an agreement over personal terms is reached.
However, United will be facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who are also preparing an approach.
Paris Saint-Germain signed Varane partner at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, some days ago and are willing to see them play together in France.
The French international has less than 12 months to run on his Real Madrid contract, and he currently has 360 appearances for the Spanish giants.
