Copa America: Chelsea players’ performance for their countries
Several Chelsea players are currently on international duties for their home countries.
While over five Blues earned up call ups to represent their countries in the Euro 24 tournament, there are players who are also playing in the Copa America.
Chelsea star and Argentina international Enzo Fernandez was in the starting line-up as his country continued their stunning form for 2024 in their final warm-up game ahead of this summer’s Copa America.
Fernandez made his first start for club or country since April, after injury ruled him out of the end of the Blues Premier League campaign.
He returned as Argentina defeated Guatemala 4-1 in their last game before the upcoming Copa America.
Aside from Fernandez, another Chelsea player that earn a call up for the Copa America is his midfield partner Moises Caicedo, who will also be in action in the USA with Ecuador.
Caicedo has been a key player for Ecuador since when he was 22 and already has 41 international caps to his name.
He is joined in Ecuador’s team by Kendry Paez, who will join the Blues from Independiente del Valle after his 18th birthday next May, making him the youngest player at this Copa America.
Meanwhile, Argentina will take on Canada in their opening match on Friday 21 June, before Ecuador play against Venezuela on Saturday 22 June.
