Christopher Nkunku Expected to Leave Chelsea This Summer Amid Interest from Manchester United

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated there is a “clear feeling” within Chelsea that Christopher Nkunku is not part of manager Enzo Maresca’s long-term plans and is likely to leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Nkunku was already a potential departure in January.
However, a move did not materialize due to Chelsea’s unwillingness to sanction a loan and the player’s preference for a permanent switch. “There was a possibility for Christopher Nkunku to go on a permanent transfer in January,” Romano said. “But all the offers were for a loan, which neither the player nor the club were keen on.”
Romano also revealed that Manchester United, under new management with Ruben Amorim, explored the idea of a swap deal involving Nkunku. However, negotiations did not progress beyond early discussions. Bayern Munich also expressed interest in January, but no agreement was reached.
Now, as Chelsea prepares for another major reshuffle under Maresca, Nkunku’s exit appears increasingly likely. His role under the incoming manager seems uncertain, and the club may look to offload players who are not central to future plans.
Additionally, recent reports have unexpectedly linked Nkunku with a move to Liverpool, adding another twist to what could become one of the summer’s more intriguing transfer stories. The situation is developing, but a departure from Stamford Bridge appears to be on the cards.
