Chiellini applauds former Chelsea star at AC Milan

Italy football legend Giorgio Chiellini has nothing but good words to say about former Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori.

Chiellini in a statement said the former Chelsea star has surprised him with his massive improvement at AC Milan.

Tomori joined AC Milan in a deal worth £28m from Chelsea in 2021.

The former Blues defender went on to help the Italian club to their first league title in 11 years the following season.

His impressive form saw Tomori earn a call-up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate, and he could get a chance to start at the World Cup in November.

Chiellini who was in the fans’ space, watched as Tomori inspire Milan to the Scudetto before he left Juventus to join LAFC in Major League Soccer and the Italian says he was surprised to see the defender’s progress.

“He surprised me because I saw him in Chelsea and I didn’t think he could be so strong in the box [or] attentive for 90 minutes,” the Italian told the Times,

“He is one of the keys of Milan winning last year.”
