Chelsea’s outcast makes first senior appearance since 2018
Chelsea outcast Marco Van Ginkel has finally made his first senior appearance for PSV after 32 months out of action due to consistent injury problem.
Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse for a reported £8 million eight years ago but has not been able to make a name for himself at the club and this has led to him going out on loan.
The Dutchman has joined the long list of Chelsea’s loan army and he has not been having the best time he would have hoped for due to injury problems.
Currently on his third loan spell with PSV, Van Ginkel underwent a surgery to rebuild the ligaments on his knee and has been out ever since the surgery was done.
The injury left him out for 32 months and Van Ginkel made a return to the pitch during PSV’s 3-1 home defeat to AZ.
Not ready to show how excited he is, Van Ginkel while speaking with NOS stated that it’s been a long time and he’s really proud of his first minutes.
He noted that he’s been out for so long, been through a lot, had a lot of surgeries that ensured that no football for him but he’s excited to be finally back.
The 28 years old midfielder noted the the past few months were very difficult time as he has had a lot of positive moments, but perhaps even more negative ones.
He added that it has been really hard, both emotionally and mentally but he’s glad to be
back on the pitch of play.
Van Ginkel last appearance for Chelsea came in 2014 when current Tottenham Hotspur coach Jose Mourinho was still in charge of Chelsea.
