Chelsea’s Michael Olise Alternative: Omari Hutchinson Set to Shine
Chelsea missing out on Michael Olise for the second consecutive summer could be a blessing in disguise for Omari Hutchinson, a promising young talent returning to the club after a successful loan spell.
Omari Hutchinson, 20, spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town in the Championship, where he primarily played on the right wing and contributed significantly to their promotion-winning campaign.
The Jamaica international made 50 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists. Ipswich are keen to bring him back, and sources indicate they are preparing a £20 million bid to sign him permanently.
Additionally, top clubs outside the Premier League, such as Ajax, Borussia Monchengladbach, Feyenoord, and Stuttgart, have also shown interest.
Hutchinson attended Stuttgart’s final match of the season as a guest, showcasing his rising profile. With Olise opting for a move to Bayern Munich instead of Chelsea, the Blues may now turn to their own talented left-footed winger.
Twice released by Chelsea as a child, Hutchinson returned for a third spell in 2022 after seven years at Arsenal.
He made his debut under Graham Potter six months later, appearing as a substitute in Premier League and FA Cup matches against Manchester City.
Eighteen months later, new manager Enzo Maresca might give Hutchinson a regular role in the first team.
Maresca, familiar with Hutchinson from their encounters last season when Leicester City faced Ipswich Town, knows the potential he brings.
Chelsea’s long-term interest in Olise may have been sidelined, but Hutchinson’s readiness could save the club from needing to sign another player in his position.
