Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard in a pre-match statement confirmed his side will be without Kalidou Koulibaly for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton.

Since taking over at Chelsea, Lampard is yet to win a match, having lost to Wolves in the league and recently to Spanish club Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Recall that Koulibaly limped out of the game against Real Madrid, Lampard confirmed the defender will not be available to play against Brighton this weekend.

The Senegal international’s chances of featuring in the return leg against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night are out of it.

“[Koulibaly] he won’t be available for either game,” Lampard said.

“A matter of weeks rather than days. He’s a very good, very experienced player. People talk a lot about our squad, Champions League squad is different to Premier League and a disappointment but also an opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea will hope to win their first game against Brighton under their new interim manager having lost to Wolves and Madrid in their last two matches.
