Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has dropped reasons why Chelsea need to go all out for Anthony Gordon before the summer transfer window closes.

Murphy in his statement said Gordon is someone with the capacity to be ‘a superstar’.

It is no longer news that Chelsea are keen on signing the youngster to their squad as coach Thomas Tuchel has a significant interest in him.

Chelsea have seen their initial bid worth £40million for Gordon rejected by the Toffees, but they are said to be unrelenting and would be returning to the table with a new deal.

Murphy told talkSPORT, “You’re talking about getting him for the next seven or eight years for that club and someone who could progress into a superstar.

“He’s really good, he’s not a risk. If you know football and you’ve watched football, then you know that he’s not a risk.

“He’s plenty good enough and he’s going to get better and better, so he’s certainly not a risk.”
