Chelsea suffer transfer blow as RB Salzburg’s target to stay put

Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow ahead of the January transfer window as their target Christoph Freund will remain at RB Salzburg.

This comes as RB Salzburg in a recent statement insisted on their stance in relation to the transfer concerning Freund, who football.london understand has verbally reached an agreement in principle to join Todd Boehly’s Chelsea.

Salzburg are not ready to let Freund leave as they expect him to stay put in the club.

A report via CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs also disclosed Salzburg who held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in the UCL have not been contacted by Chelsea concerning any move for their player.

Jacobs confirmed the statement with his tweet via his official handle as he wrote: ‘Salzburg statement to me confirming they expect Christoph Freund to stay, despite their sporting director verbally agreeing to Chelsea.’

‘“FC Red Bull Salzburg has never been contacted from Chelsea to talk about any transfer details of Christoph Freund. We expect him to stay.”’
