Chelsea suffer huge setback in the pursuit of Jules Kounde as Sevilla chief reveals latest update
Chelsea are still in the transfer window for a centre-back and their top target remain Jules Kounde who currently plays for Spanish giant, Sevilla.
Jules Kounde has caught the attention of Thomas Tuchel with his performance for the past few seasons and the German tactician is eager to have him in his squad.
However, Chelsea have not been able to agree a deal with Sevilla on a transfer fee.
The imminent arrival of Kurt Zouma at West Ham United has now given Chelsea a boast in the pursuit of Kounde.
With Zouma set to complete a £25m move to West Ham, there are reports that Kounde’s deal will be sorted out soon.
However, Sevilla president Castro dropped a bombshell on any talk that Chelsea were set to make a move for Kounde.
Speaking via Estadio Deportivo, Castro stated that at the moment Kounde is a Sevilla player.
He stated that what Sevilla have done this year is to reinforce, they’ve signed six footballers noting that they want to have a powerful team.
Castro added that Sevillaalways study the offers that may come but the days are running out, for now there is nothing.
Jules Kounde, 22, is able to play at centre-back or in a traditional right-back role, making him the perfect candidate to play on the right of Thomas Tuchel’s back-three system.
