Chelsea Still Interested in Signing Stuttgart Striker, Says German Insider

Top German insider Florian Plettenberg has recently tweeted about the future of Serhou Guirassy, a highly sought-after player this summer.

Guirassy, coming off a career-defining season with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, is attracting significant attention due to a low release clause that makes him an appealing target for many clubs.

Reports suggest that his release clause, between €15m and €17.5m, ensures that the Guinea striker is almost certain to leave his current team this summer.

At 28, Guirassy is considered a late bloomer, but his impressive form last season has sparked a flurry of interest.

Plettenberg mentions that Arsenal, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund are Chelsea’s main competitors in the race to secure his signature.

Chelsea’s Tactical Considerations

Despite the interest, there are questions about Chelsea’s potential pursuit of Guirassy due to his playing style.

The club appears content with Nicolas Jackson and is reportedly looking for a striker to support and back him up, rather than a direct upgrade.

According to well-connected insider Matt Law, Chelsea is seeking a versatile number 9 capable of running in behind defenses and holding the ball up. Guirassy, known more as a penalty box poacher, doesn’t quite fit this mold.

However, Guirassy’s relatively low cost could tempt Chelsea to reconsider. While the club continues to favor other options like Jhon Duran, there has been little progress on that front.

If this continues, Chelsea might pivot and make Guirassy their primary target
