Chelsea reportedly linked with Barcelona defender as backup for Ben Chilwel

With barely a few days to the start of the winter transfer window, a report has claims that Chelsea are linked with moves for Barcelona defender Sergino Dest.

It is no longer news that the Blues are short of alternatives at wing-back, especially as there are doubts over Ben Chilwell who is continuing to recover from an ACL injury.

It is believed that should the England international makes significant progress over the coming weeks, Chelsea may not make moves to bring in a new defender.

However, a report via The Express claims consideration is being given to making an approach for United States international Dest.

Despite making 16 appearances in all competitions this season, the 21-year-old has recently lost his place in the team, leading to suggestions that Barcelona are willing to cash in on his services.

The report suggested that Chelsea may be prepared to spend as much as £30m on the wideman, who is capable of playing on either flank.

We will have to wait till January to see if the Blues will make any move.
