Chelsea release statement after Abramovich hands over
Chelsea have released a statement on the Russian military invasion of neighbouring country Ukraine.
The Blues have been in the heat of the Russian invasion since it commences on Tuesday owing to the fact that Russian billionaire owns the English club Roman Abramovich.
On Saturday, Chelsea billionaire owner Abramovich handed the management of the club to Chelsea foundation.
However, he didn’t give his stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has sparked reactions.
The Blues have now released a statement which comes less than 15 hours after the Russian owner announced he was relinquishing the “stewardship and care” of the club.
Below is the Blues’ statement as released on Sunday morning: “The situation in Ukraine is horrific and devastating.
“Chelsea FC’s thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine. Everyone at the club is praying for peace.”
Notably, there is no mention of Russia or the Russian invasion.
In another report, Chelsea will return to action on Sunday evening in the Carabao League final when they go head to head against Liverpool.
