Chelsea player signs contract extension

Chelsea player Ian Maatsen has signed a contract extension with the West London side that will keep him at the club till 2026.

Maatsen, would, however, continue his loan term with German club Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea made the announcement known in a recent statement released via their official website.

The 21-year-old, who has made 15 first-team appearances for the Blues this season, will now continue his development in the German Bundesliga.

Recall that Maatsen signed with Chelsea in 2015 from PSV Eindhoven and has previously embarked on loans at Charlton Athletic, Coventry City, and Burnley.

Chelsea seems to believe in Maatsen’s potential to have chosen to keep him in their book while he gets chances to improve in the German league.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will return to action this weekend when they face Fulham in the Premier League.
