Chelsea owner eyeing Blues former striker as potential replacement for Frank Lampard

Chelsea owner Roman Abrahimovic is reportedly eyeing former Blues striker Andriy Shevchenko as the club next manager if Frank Lampard is sacked.

Frank Lampard replaced Mauricio Sarri during the start of 2019/2020 season and performed well during his debut season.

The former Chelsea midfielder fielded a young blues team to ensure they retain their top four status despite given a transfer ban.

However, Lampard has not been able to replicate that form this season despite given enough money to spend during the transfer window.

Lampard’s Chelsea lost their fourth match in the last six Premier League matches against Manchester City on Sunday and this has seen them slipped to 8th place on the table.

With Roman Abrahimovic known for not having patience with coaches who are not delivering, Chelsea are believed to be planning for the possibility of sacking Lampard.

Top managers have been linked with the job but according to French outlet Le10 Sport, one of the names in the frame to replace Lampard is former Chelsea teammate Shevchenko.

The report added that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been keeping a very close eye on Shevchenko’s progress as a manager and is a big fan.

Shevchenko spent one-and-a-half seasons as part of the Blues’ first team as a player, arriving in 2006.
