Chelsea offer £15m plus player to Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea have presented a proposal to Barcelona of £15m cash plus Marcos Alonso (who is probably worth a comparative sum) for Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, as per exclusive from David Ornstein in the Athletic today.

Chelsea are a striker short and Barcelona need to reduce wages to balance the books – despite the fact that it’s unmistakable they’d prefer not to lose Aubameyang. In the end, even this Barca with its supernatural money tree needs to face some type of monetary reality.

Frankly, we HATE this arrangement.

The main motivation to make it happen is on the grounds that Thomas Tuchel wants him, and the manager has done what’s necessary to demonstrate to us that he should be supported in the transfer market.

It’s not practical to go into this season with just Armando Broja as a striker – but that has been clear the entire summer, and is not a reason to spend a lot of money money on the 33-year-old striker.
