Chelsea not close to signing De Jong

Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong has rejected a possible move to Chelsea despite speaking on the phone with Chelsea co-owner, Todd, Boehly, according to Relevo.

The report claimed Boehly spoke directly with De Jong to consider a potential move to Stamford Bridge but the midfielder gave a response the Blues were not hoping for.

Chelsea are in the race to sign the 25-year-old midfielder ahead of their Premier League rivals, Manchester United.

It appears the Dutch playmaker doesn’t have any reason to leave Camp Nou and has already rejected a transfer to Old Trafford despite Man United agreeing to a £73million fee for him.

Chelsea were perceived to have a better chance of signing him because they could afford him chances of playing in the Uefa Championship League, unlike Man Utd.

But it just seems De Jong doesn’t favour any move to the English Premier League and may just end up going elsewhere.
