Former Liverpool star, Glen Johnson has urged the club manager Jurgen Klopp to make the move to sign Mateo Kovacic to Anfield if Chelsea put the Croatian midfielder up for sale in the summer.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kovacic and Johnson, who played for both Liverpool and Chelsea, believes the Croatian would suit the Reds’ style of game.

Aside from Liverpool, German club Bayern Munich, which is now managed by former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel are also interested in the 28-year-old midfielder.

The Croatian player would see his current contract with the Blues run out in the summer of 2024 and former Liverpool man Johnson feels the player is underrated at Stamford Bridge.

“Mateo Kovacic is a top-class player so the interest is no surprise,” Johnson told Lord Ping.

“If he leaves Chelsea, he would suit Liverpool very well.

“Jurgen Klopp will love the way he plays,” he added.
