The latest report has revealed that Chelsea have made a breakthrough in the contract talks with Germany international Antonio Rudiger.

It is no longer news that the Blues centre-back defender will see his contract at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of June.

He has, however, been earlier linked with moves to Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, who all want to sign him on a free transfer.

While the previous reports claimed Rudiger was looking to leave Chelsea this summer in search of a big-money contract, the latest report via Bild journalist Christian Falk revealed that the German defender now wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Falk claimed that the two parties are now holding positive discussions, with Rudiger disappointed with the previous offer that had been placed on the table.

Rudiger has been in strong form for the Blues during the 2021-22 season and has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and creating four assists in the process.

In total, the German has made 176 appearances for the Blues since joining them from the Italian side AS Roma in 2017.
