Chelsea linked with moves for Villarreal’s winger

Chelsea have been linked with moves for Villarreal winger Alex Baena, according to a report in Spanish outlet Sport.

The Blues, who spent heavily in the summer window have been linked with moves for additional players ahead of the January transfer window.

To complete a move for Baena, Chelsea must be ready to beat off competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, who are also believed to be interested in the 21-year-old.

Further reports revealed that the winger’s release clause is around a fee of £30 million.

Baena has been impressive for Villarreal this season as he is their top scorer in all competitions.

He was at Girona on loan last season where he played a crucial part in helping the Catalonia side gain promotion to the La Liga through the playoffs.

He made 45 appearances for Girona in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting another seven in the process.

We would have to wait till January to see if Chelsea will submit a bid for him.
