Chelsea in surprise move for Leicester’s defender

Chelsea are determined to sign a new defender before the close of the summer transfer window and a report via Express claimed the Blues are now in the race for Leicester City’s defender Wesley Fofana.

The Blues hope to sign Fofana from Leicester City this summer after they lost out on Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, who is set to join Barcelona.

Aside from Fofana, Chelsea have been linked with other options.

It is unlikely the Blues will be able to sign Fofana at least not this summer as he is currently tied down with a long-term contract with the Foxes.

The French defender had a tough time last season after he sustained a broken leg in Leicester’s pre-season tie against Villarreal.

So far this summer, Leicester City are yet to welcome a new player to their squad, making them the only team in Europe’s top-seven leagues yet to make a signing.

It is believed that funds made from the sale of Fofona could help them make some new signings.
