Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, who is currently on international duty for his home country Brazil has set a new record as he becomes their most capped defender following their win against west African country Ghana.

This comes as the Blues defender captained the Brazilian squad to a 3-0 friendly victory over Ghana in France last night, with Richarlison scoring twice after Thiago’s defensive partner Marquinhos had earlier opened the scoring at Stade Oceana.

Thiago, also known as ‘the monster’, featured for Brazil for the first 45 minutes in Le Harve before being replaced by Juventus defender Bremer for the second half.

The latest cap accumulated by Thiago, his 108th for Brazil, sees him overtake Lucio as the Selecao’s most-capped defender.

Following the win over Ghana, Brazil will now focus on their next match against Tunisia on Tuesday in France.
