Chelsea have bid temporary farewell to their defender Caleb Wiley as they confirmed in a latest announcement that he has completed a season-long loan move to French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

The west London club disclosed this in a statement via their official website on Sunday.

Chelsea’s statement partly read that Wiley has completed a season-long loan move to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg as they wished him in his time in France.

Recall that Wiley was one of the players the Blues signed the summer transfer window.

He arrived at the Premier League west London club from Atlanta United last month before he played for the USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

While it is yet to be known if the Blues have any future plans to include the defender in their senior squad, the 19-year-old will, however, now continue his development at Strasbourg throughout the new 2024–25 season.

Depending on how he performs at Strasbourg, Wiley could be back at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea appeared to be on a mission to reduce their squad number as several of their players have been linked with exit from the club ahead of a new season.
