Chelsea boss calls out UK government over criticism of Roman Abramovich chants

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has called out the UK government’s priorities after they urged blues fans to stop chanting for owner Roman Abramovich.

The UK government sanctioned roman Abramovich over his links with Russian president, Vladimir Putin amidst the invasion of Ukraine.

This sanction has led to Roman Abramovich putting the club up for sale but Chelsea fans have continued to show their support to the Russian-Israeli billionaire.

UK government condemned the move, but Thomas Tuchel is concerned if the blues fans chant is the most important discussion to have in Parliament.

Tuchel, during his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s match against Lille noted that if fan chants are being discussed in Parliament, that means that everyone has to worry about the priorities of discussions.

He noted that there are restrictions and the club have to deal with it.

Tuchel added that there are adjustments in the amount of staff, who is travelling, how many rooms the team have in hotels and how they arrive at matches.

Chelsea’s new licence limits the club to spending £20,000 per away match on travel, though they are urgently lobbying the Government for a much-needed hike.
