Chelsea have been warned against letting their winger and Morocco International Hakim Ziyech leave the club.

This warning was passed by Chelsea legend, Glen Johnson who stressed that Ziyech’s departure from Stamford Bridge could come back to hurt the Blues.

This comes amidst reported interest for Ziyech from Laliga giants Barcelona.

So far this season, the Moroccan winger has made only eight appearances in the EPL under Thomas Tuchel, with only one goal, which came in during the Blues win over Watford last Wednesday.

Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 alongside Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

However, all of the other players are currently ahead of him in Chelsea order for forwards.

Owing to this reason, Barcelona have taken an interest in him, but Johnson has advised the Blues against selling the Morocco star.

“Yes. Hakim Ziyech is a fantastic player. If he plays with more energy I think he’d be starting a lot more games,” Johnson said according to Metro.

“He could be one of those sales that would come back and bite you. If he starts enjoying his football, gets good game time and finds some form, then Chelsea are going to see the player that they signed originally.

“It’s a difficult one as he’s not at those heights at the moment which of course is why there are rumours about him leaving, but if they find a way to get him back enjoying his football and some more game time, I think they’ve got an amazing player on their hands.”
