Brazil star tipped to join Arsenal over Chelsea

According to Football journalist, Simon Phillips in a recent statement while speaking on the future of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal stated that the Brazil star is likely to move to Emirate Stadium over Stamford Bridge next season.

Luiz is currently in the final year of his contract at Aston Villa and could see out his contract to become a free agent next summer.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal had submitted three bids on transfer deadline day this summer for Luiz but it didn’t work out.

Arsenal initially submitted a £20 million bid followed by an improved offer of £23 million and £25 million, respectively.

But Aston Villa rejected all the bids from the Gunners and managed to keep the Brazilian at the club.

Phillip has now claimed that Chelsea could join the race for Luiz next summer if he becomes available on a free transfer.

“The situation there if he does become a free agent, Chelsea will probably have a look at it. But I think he will end up joining Arsenal,” Phillips was quoted by Give Me Sport as saying.
