Brazil International and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has signed a new deal with the west London club.

The reports revealed that the new agreement between the Blues and Silva was reached on Monday as he put pen to paper to remain at Stamford Bridge till the summer of 2023.

Silva has been impressive for Chelsea since joining them from Paris Saint Germain in 2020.

Despite his age, he remains a key player in the Blues squad and has helped improve their defensive line.

Reacting to the new contract, the 37-year-old defender gave special thanks to his family, the club, Marina Granovskaia, and Roman Abramovich for allowing him to remain at the west London club.

“To play here with Chelsea is a real pleasure. I never thought I would play for three years here in this great club so I am very happy to stay for another season,” Silva told Chelsea’s official website.

“I would also like to say thanks to my family, the club, Marina and to Mr Abramovich for this opportunity. I will continue to give everything for this club and for the supporters, who have always been by my side since I arrived.
