Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta in a post-match statement claimed his players did not show purpose during the first half of their 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners saw Cole Palmer score the first goal for Chelsea through a penalty after the referee deemed William Saliba to have handled the ball.

Mykhailo Mudryk doubled the Blues’ lead with a cross-shot that looped over David Raya.

However, Arteta’s men managed to equalise in the second half, thanks to goals from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.

“We played without enough purpose in the first half. I didn’t like it.

“Credit to the players and the team that we faced. We created the biggest problems for ourselves.

“If we cannot win, we don’t have to lose. We’ll take some learnings [from the game],” Arteta said after the game.
