Arteta reacts to Chelsea’s decision to sign Arsenal defender

Manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the Gunners’ decision to extend William Saliba’s contract

This comes as the North London club had earlier on Friday announced a new long-term deal for Saliba.

He was a key player in Arsenal’s squad last season, which is made the Gunners’ hand

With 33 appearances in all competitions, Saliba scored three times and provided one assist from the centre-back.

Reacting, Arteta said that Saliba’s ability is exciting, adding that he is looking forward to continuing working with the player.

Arteta told Arsenal’s website: “To have William extend his contract with us was something we have wanted to do for a long time.

“The ability he has at his young age of just 22 is exciting, and there is of course so much more room for development with any player at this stage of their career. We are looking forward to continuing to work with William in the years to come.”
